Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Monday 8/9

Andrew Vaughn - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/9/21. Frank Ammirante identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to the another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs.

Each day RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from Yahoo! leagues.

Today we have a 5-game slate, giving us a shallow pool of streamers.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/9 - Shallow Leagues

Myles Straw (SS/OF, RHB, CLE) 45% Rostered

Matchup: vs. CIN RHP Luis Castillo

Straw came into Sunday with a .281/.303/.406 with one home run and two stolen bases in eight games for Cleveland. He's been a fixture in the leadoff spot, which is great news for his run-scoring and stolen base upside. Straw has a tough matchup against Castillo, but his speed really puts him in play on a weak slate for streamers. It's not often that you find a leadoff hitter with 30-steal upside on the waiver wire.

Andrew Vaughn (1B/OF, RHB, CHW) 37% Rostered

Matchup: at MIN RHP Beau Burrows

Vaughn is really seeing the ball well of late, going 7-for-22 (.318) with two homers and four RBI in his last seven games. During this stretch, he has seven walks and only five strikeouts, so he's clearly locked in at the plate. This is a young hitter with prospect pedigree who appears to be finally finding his groove in the big leagues. He slashed .308/.347/.516 in July and has kept it going with a .308/.438/.538 in August so far.

Cesar Hernandez (2B, SHB, CHW) 36% Rostered

Matchup: at MIN RHP Beau Burrows

Hernandez came into Sunday's action slashing .345/.457/.552 with two homers and three RBI in eight games since joining the White Sox, giving him a career-high 20 home runs on the season. He's hit in the two-hole in seven of his nine games with the team, which puts him in a great spot for run production. The Twins will send out Beau Burrows as the opener for this game, so Hernandez should have a chance to keep it rolling in this game.

Hitter Streamers for 8/9 - Deeper Leagues

Miguel Rojas (SS, RHB, MIA) 13% Rostered

Matchup: at SD RHP Joe Musgrove

Rojas has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, racking up 10 runs, one homer, and two steals during that span. He's been a fixture in the leadoff spot, so he's in a great position to pile up more runs. Rojas has a tough matchup against Musgrove, especially with this being the Marlins' first game since Coors (teams tend to struggle in these spots), but we need to keep firing him up with the way he's playing right now.

Edward Olivares (OF, RHB, KC) 10% Rostered

Matchup: vs. NYY RHP Jameson Taillon

Olivares has shown upside since being recalled on July 31, going 5-for-23 (.217) with three home runs and one stolen bases in seven games. This kind of power-speed profile is highly appealing, so Olivares needs to be rostered in more leagues. Taillon is one of the hottest pitchers in baseball right now, but he's not going to push us off Olivares, especially in such a short slate like this one.

Lewis Brinson (OF, RHB, MIA) 1% Rostered

Matchup: at SD RHP Joe Musgrove

What has gotten into Brinson? The former top prospect and jewel of the Christian Yelich trade has gone 10-for-25 (.400) with five runs, one home run, and nine RBI in his last seven games. Brinson has mostly hit in the cleanup spot, which makes him a nice pairing with leadoff hitter Rojas. These are two Marlins who are hitting well, so you can definitely fire them up in DFS tournaments.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/9 - Shallow Leagues

Jameson Taillon (RHP, NYY) 73% Rostered

Matchup: at KC

Taillon is a super shallow streaming recommendation for Monday, but he's still available in 27% of Yahoo leagues, so he'll make this list due to the limited options available. Taillon has been simply on fire lately. Since his 0.1 IP outing against the Phillies on June 12, Taillon has put up a 3.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 16 walks and 50 strikeouts in 54 innings. He should be able to take care of business in an exploitable matchup against the Royals.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/9 - Deep Leagues

Carlos Hernandez (RHP, KC) 4% Rostered

Matchup: vs. NYY

Hernandez is a super risky streamer against the Yankees, but he's posted a 28.1% strikeout rate this season and has looked rock-solid in his last two starts, allowing one run on six hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts. On a day with only five games on the slate, it's hard not to like Hernandez with how he's rolling lately. You can also fire up Hernandez in DFS, where he figures to be low-owned, making him a good play in tournaments.
