Unrestricted free agent Alexander Wennberg signed a three-year contract with the expansion Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. The contract comes with a $4.5 million AAV. The 26-year-old native of Sweden is coming off of a modest season with the Florida Panthers. Wennberg scored 17 goals but had just 29 total points in 56 games. He's failed to break the 30-point mark over the past three years. The former first-round pick's best season came in 2016-17 with the Columbus Blue Jackets when he scored 16 goals and recorded 59 points. Wennberg should receive an opportunity to center the top line — at least while Yanni Gourde is recovering from offseason surgery.
