The Washington Nationals signed Oklahoma pitcher Cade Cavalli, their first-round pick (22nd overall), to his rookie deal on Friday. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the Nationals have room to go above the designated $3.027 million slot value for the 22nd overall pick. Cavalli was the fourth straight pitcher the team has taken in the first round. He had a 4.18 ERA, 37 strikeouts and only five walks in 23 2/3 innings to start the season before it was canceled this year. The 6-foot-4, 226-pounder was 5-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings in 12 starts as a sophomore. He also hit .319 with four homers and 17 RBI in 19 games, but Cavalli is expected to remain on the mound with the Nationals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
