Javier Baez is Likely Done for the Season

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (thumb) is likely done for the rest of the regular season, according to manager Joe Maddon. Baez surprisingly returned on Sunday to take an at-bat, but that is most likely the last time we'll see him this season. The Cubs are basically eliminated from the playoffs, so there is no reason to push Baez back out there. Nico Hoerner is expected to finish out the season at shortstop for the North Siders. Hoerner should compete for a starting infield spot in Chicago next season.
