Mariners Bringing Up Shed Long, J.P. Crawford
Shed Long and shortstop J.P. Crawford from the minors on Friday to join the team for the weekend series against the Red Sox in Boston. There's a chance both Long and Crawford become the team's middle infielders with Tim Beckham slumping mightily and Dee Gordon (wrist) possibly needing an extended absence. Long, the team's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .276 with five home runs and 21 RBI at Triple-A Tacoma. Crawford, likely the team's shortstop of the future, hasn't had much success in the big leagues in his prior stop with Philly, but he could be worth a look in deep mixed leagues (as well as Long) if he sees regular playing time.
