Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Anthony Banda had a roller coaster day Saturday including a win versus Baltimore. He came in as the second pitcher in the new format and pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing only one run. He allowed only three hits and one walk to go with seven strikeouts to pick up his first victory of the season. He would then get sent down to the minors after the game to get a fresh arm into the bullpen. Banda was a key part of the deal with Arizona that sent Steven Souza out of town. He pitched eight games in 2017 for the Diamondbacks with four starts and an ERA of 5.96. However, he has impressed coaches in the Rays organization. He also drew praise for how his stuff looked Tuesday. His fastball was in the mid-90s while his offspeed pitches looked like they could be effective going forward. He does have some potential upside going forward, especially in long-term formats.--Jamie Mellor
