Kansas City Royals outfielder Jorge Soler continues to wallow in the doldrums of an ugly slump. Following Thursday’s effort, Soler is now in the midst of a 3-for-37 stretch that includes only one walk over a nine-game period. He’s struck out 13 times over that period and has just one extra-base hit. Soler looked like he had fully bought into a new approach of increased patience, increased contact, and reduced strikeouts, but his commitment will be tested as frustration builds due to this slump. He’s still got the best walk rate of his career and his strikeout rate is a manageable 52.8% on the season, but his batting average has plummeted due to the streak. It’s left to be seen whether he will adjust and return to his contact-focused approach.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
