The Toronto Blue Jays have placed starting pitcher Marcus Stroman on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 9, due to right shoulder fatigue. At this point, something of this sort makes sense. Outside of one start, Stroman has been nothing short of dreadful this season en route to a 7.71 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. Normally, a move like this might be looked at as a phantom injury in order to give a struggling player some time away. In this case, though, there’s probably something to it. Stroman dealt with right shoulder inflammation throughout spring training prior to finally making his debut with just a couple weeks before the season started. It’s unclear right now if he’ll only miss the minimum amount of time on the disabled list, but stay tuned for updates. Toronto also recalled pitchers Joe Biagini and Sam Gaviglio, either of which could take Stroman’s place while he’s on the shelf. Stroman isn't a lock to be held in shallow leagues.--John Smith
