Dansby Swanson Looks To Improve His Value
Dansby Swanson was once a highly touted prospect and the Braves fans were ecstatic when he was acquired in a trade from the Diamondbacks in 2016. In his first season in Atlanta, he was brought up and played 38 games, justifying the hype with three home runs, three stolen bases, and a .302 average, albeit with a .383 batting average on balls in play. The shining light dimmed a little in 2017 when Swanson's performance was not indicative of a prospect with such pedigree. He had a .636 on-base plus slugging and a .276 weighted on-base average. He also did not hit with any authority, only 29.3% hard hit. Swanson alternated his months of good performance with months of terrible output. Thus far, Swanson has not demonstrated that he has an elite skill in any category. He will be 24 years old this season so there is still plenty of time to improve his value. Swanson should only be drafted in 16-team leagues or greater; even then, it should be in the end of the draft. If you have space on your dynasty roster, Swanson would be the type of player to stash. With a moderate amount of production in 2018, combined with his name value, Swanson could return quite a bit of value in a trade for very little investment.
