The Chiefs offense simply doesn't take a lot of shots down field, and quarterback Alex Smith tends to be on the more conservative side. Maclin is one of those Chiefs wide receivers that hasn't caught a touchdown pass for over a year now, yet he has lead the team in targets this season and looks to be active all over the field.
Maclin is the most talented receiver the Chiefs have had during the Alex Smith era, and his talent should win out over a conservative offensive game plan in the long run. This week versus the Packers, Maclin doesn't have a terribly intimidating matchup. Over the first two weeks of the season, the Packers have allowed very productive stat lines to number one receivers on the opposing teams (Alshon Jeffery in Week 1, Doug Baldwin in Week 2).
Maclin should be viewed as a solid start across the board tonight for fantasy owners, especially those in PPR leagues. Don't be surprised if Maclin ends up having a big game, and maybe even scoring that elusive first touchdown pass of the young season.
