CFP Leaders Considering Disqualifying Teams with Former NFL Players
According to On3's Pete Nakos, College Football Playoff leaders have discussed potential disqualifying teams with players who have been on NFL rosters from postseason play. This comes after recent court rulings have given players from the recruiting class of 2022 another season of eligibility. LSU is the most notable program that has brought in players who were on offseason NFL rosters, including tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who played two seasons under Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss before joining the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. While there is debate over whether the NCAA or the SEC can enforce rules to prevent the Tigers from playing Wright and others, the CFP likely has the ability to ban the program from the postseason, which would mean they cannot compete for a College Football Playoff National Championship. No decision has been made.
