Arch Manning Criticized by Steve Sarkisian After Team Scrimmage
The Texas Longhorns completed their second fall scrimmage on Saturday, and according to head coach Steve Sarkisian, the offense did not have a good showing. He labeled the offense "sloppy" and said it made "uncharacteristic errors." The offense reportedly had four turnovers against the Texas defense. He specifically called quarterback Arch Manning "inefficient." This comes after there have been reports that Manning has not had a stellar camp, but Sarkisian isn't in panic mode. "We're working hard, and those guys are working hard. And you could feel a little, a little physical fatigue, and maybe a little mental fatigue," Sarkisian said. "You know, I felt a little bit of that from Arch today, and that's not uncommon." Manning is heading into his second full year as a starter after posting 3,163 passing yards, 399 rushing yards, 36 total touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2025. He struggled out of the gate before coming on strong in the second half of the season, but he is expected to take a significant leap in Year 2, especially with the offensive additions Texas made via the transfer portal. Texas opens the 2026 campaign against Texas State before hosting Ohio State in Week 2. A Week 4 road trip to Knoxville to play Tennessee will be the first tough test away from home.
