Michael Van Buren Named USF's QB1
Former Mississippi State and LSU quarterback Michael Van Buren has been named South Florida's starting quarterback, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Van Buren was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024 and has appeared in 17 games over the last two seasons, completing 57.5% of his passes for 2,896 yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He's added 117 yards and six scores on the ground. The Bulls replaced head coach Alex Golesh with longtime Ohio State assistant coach Brian Hartline this offseason, and his first offense will see at least eight transfers in starting roles. Many of USF's top players from last season followed Golesh to Auburn. USF starts the season at home against Florida International on September 5. The program does not face a Power 4 opponent in 2026.
