CJ Kayfus 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Dynasty Stash for Now, Unclear Role with Guardians Signing Hoskins
Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder CJ Kayfus struggled during his call up to the big leagues in August, slashing .220/.292/.415 with four home runs, 19 RBI, 16 runs, and four stolen bases over 44 games. He struck out a lot, evidenced by his 27.5 K%, and posted just a 97wRC+ over 138 plate appearances. He did show some signs of life in mid-September by hitting .286 with a home run, six RBI, and a stolen base over his last 12 games. The 24-year-old can play both first base and outfield. Rhys Hoskins signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians during the offseason, with an invitation to spring training. With Kyle Manzardo locked in at first base, Kayfus will compete with Hoskins, Chase DeLauter, and Nolan Jones for playing time in Cleveland's outfield. The 2023 third-round pick will likely start the season in the minors and could get called up to the show at some point during the middle of the season. He currently has an NFBC ADP of 585, making him primarily an upside pick in deep draft-and-hold leagues. However, Kayfus is a dynasty buy and could be an asset down the road for the Guardians and dynasty managers, but for now, don't expect more than a handful of home runs and 6-7 steals heading into 2026 fantasy baseball drafts.
