Colby Thomas 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Massive Swing-and-Miss and Playing Time Concerns Overshadow Power Potential
Colby Thomas struggled with the A's last season, hitting .225/.267/.417 with six homers and two steals across 132 PAs. The 25-year-old was on the fantasy radar after showing off power and speed on the farm. In 575 PAs split between Double-A and Triple-A, Thomas hit .277/.342/.563 with 31 HR and 15 steals. Last season at Triple-A, he slashed .291/.366/.529 with 18 HR and seven steals in 384 PAs. Unfortunately, Triple-A is an extremely hitter-friendly environment, and he posted a 16 SwStr% in 2024 and 14.6 SwStr% in 2025 that suggested he wasn't ready for prime time. Indeed, he struck out 37.1 percent of the time with an unacceptable 19.5 SwStr% at the MLB level last season. Thomas's efficiency on SB attempts is also lacking, with his 79 percent 2024 success rate falling to about 68 percent at Triple-A and 66 percent in the majors last season. Thomas projects as Lawrence Butler's short-side platoon partner, and you have to think the team wants to see Butler return to everyday play, considering his seven-year contract extension. That makes Thomas undraftable even at his 652.66 ADP.
