Jett Williams 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Worthy of a Late-Round Selection Even if Season Begins at Triple-A
Infield prospect Jett Williams was the centerpiece of one of the most prominent trades this winter. Williams and fellow right-handed pitching prospect Brandon Sproat were traded by the New York Mets to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for ace Freddy Peralta. Williams was viewed as the top hitting prospect in the New York system at the time of the trade and was quickly knocking on the MLB door. Last season, the former 14th overall pick from the 2022 MLB Draft began the campaign in Double-A but was able to spend the final stretch with Triple-A Syracuse. At Double-A (96 games), the Rockwall-Heath HS product was very productive, posting a .281/.390/.477 slash line with 29 doubles, 10 home runs, and 32 stolen bases. However, in his first taste of Triple-A, the young infielder showed some growing pains, posting a .209/.285/.433 line with a .718 OPS. With the Brewers, Williams is slated to see opportunities at several infield positions during spring training, which should provide him with an early path to join the MLB roster. Additionally, the Brewers traded their starting third baseman, Caleb Durbin, to Boston, which will make William's path to MLB at-bats even clearer. Currently, Williams will compete for a starting role at shortstop alongside Joey Ortiz and the hot corner alongside newly-signed veteran Luis Rengifo. While the Brewers may opt to give Williams another taste of Triple-A, he should be in the mix for an early MLB debut as both Ortiz and Rengifo have not shown much offensive consistency in the past calendar year. He is a prime stash option in all 12-team formats, as he has five-category potential as soon as he earns the call to the big leagues. He can still be selected with your final pick at his late 584.2 ADP on NFBC drafts.
