Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Vikings
Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy (concussion) is back in the lineup and facing one of the NFL's worst defenses in the Washington Commanders, but should be considered a volatile QB2 option for fantasy lineups. The second-year quarterback picked up two huge NFC North road wins earlier this season, but has once again missed significant time due to injuries and mostly struggled when available.
McCarthy has 10 interceptions and a 54.1% completion percentage in his six starts, though Washington's defense has had its own issues. The Commanders have allowed scoring drives at the highest rate in the NFL and rank in the bottom five against fantasy quarterbacks, and McCarthy has shown flashes of mobility with 120 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on 23 carries.
Managers approaching the fantasy playoffs in Superflex formats will have to evaluate McCarthy against their other options, but there is some hope that a talented Minnesota offense can finally turn a corner against a bad defense at home.
Jacoby Brissett, QB, Cardinals
Since taking over for the injured Kyler Murray (foot) in Week 6, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been consistently productive. Across seven starts, the 32-year-old has completed 67.8% of his pass attempts for 2,188 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Brissett has thrown for at least 250 yards in every start and topped 300 yards passing in three straight games heading into his Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Arizona's pass-happy approach buoys Brissett's production. He's averaging 43 pass attempts per start overall and 48.6 per game over the last three weeks.
Arizona figures to be chasing points once again on Sunday against the Rams, which could lead to another high-volume day for Brissett. Additionally, Murray's return timeline remains murky, as the team has not yet opened his 21-day Injured Reserve activation window. Brissett profiles as a low-end fantasy QB1 for as long as he remains the starter in Arizona.
Jordan Love, QB, Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is coming off one of his better games of the season in Week 13 and looks to continue that momentum when the Packers host the Bears in a divisional showdown in Week 14. Love was QB2 overall last week in the Packers' win over the Lions, throwing for 234 yards and four touchdowns.
Even with Chicago returning Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon to their secondary, it's a secondary that can be thrown on. Add the weapons that the Packers may get back with Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden, who are both questionable for Week 14, and the Packers have a wealth of options for Love to throw to. Consider Love a fringe QB1 fantasy option when the Packers host the Bears in Week 14.
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had some impressive moments in his first two career starts. Sanders threw the second touchdown of his career to fellow rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. in Cleveland's Week 13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers while completing 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 149 yards and taking three sacks for a loss of 34 yards. The rookie fifth-rounder didn't turn the ball over for the first time, and head coach Kevin Stefanski has been pleased with his progress so far.
The Colorado product has already been named the starting quarterback for Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans, setting up a matchup between Sanders and first overall pick Cameron Ward. Sanders is still far from being considered for fantasy purposes outside of deep and superflex leagues, but he'll look to solidify his role as the team's starter for the remainder of the season in a plus matchup.
Jayden Daniels, QB, Commanders
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) will start on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Daniels will be active this weekend for the first time since a gruesome dislocation of his left (non-throwing) elbow in Week 9 in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 24-year-old has missed the team's last three games but will take over starting duties in Minnesota, sending veteran Marcus Mariota back to the bench.
Washington got top wideout Terry McLaurin back from a nagging quad injury last week, so Daniels will have a pretty healthy offense around him for his return. Daniels wasn't playing quite like he did in his amazing rookie season this year before hamstring and elbow injuries sidelined him, but he definitely makes the Commanders' offense more dynamic. Fantasy managers may want to temper expectations in Daniels' first game back, though, especially since the Vikings have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs in 2025.
