Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 12:
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has become firmly entrenched in the backup role following Rico Dowdle's early-season breakout. Hubbard missed Weeks 5 and 6 due to injury, leaving Dowdle with the perfect opportunity to break out. The veteran capitalized on the opportunity, seized the lead-back role, and never looked back. As a result, Hubbard's role declined when he returned from injury, and his involvement took another step back two weeks ago.
He has played fewer than 23 percent of the offensive snaps in each of his last two games, totaling just eight carries and one reception during that span. Despite signing an extension last winter, Hubbard is now a mere handcuff option behind Dowdle, a potential league-winner.
David Montgomery, RB, Lions
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he'd "always" like to get running back David Montgomery more carries, according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. Montgomery does have double-digit rushing attempts in seven of 10 games this year, including in three of the last four games. But he was more of an afterthought in Sunday night's 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, carrying the ball only six times for 27 yards and catching his only target for 10 yards. The game script in Week 11 was not in the 28-year-old's favor, that's for sure.
Detroit should have a better game script this weekend on the road against the one-win Tennessee Titans, so fantasy managers will be banking on him getting more involved on the ground again. Backfield mate Jahmyr Gibbs is much more dynamic than Montgomery in both the run and pass game, which has made Monty more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex in fantasy in 2025.
Calvin Austin III, WR, Steelers
Across eight games this season, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III has recorded 22 receptions for 242 yards and two touchdowns on 37 targets. It's been a struggle for the 26-year-old over in recent weeks, as he's hauled in just three catches for 19 yards on eight targets over his last two games. Perhaps most notably, Austin III saw a significant drop in playing time in the Steelers' Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Austin III played just 19 offensive snaps against Cincinnati, his lowest total in any game this season and nearly 20 fewer than fellow Steelers wideout Roman Wilson. Heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Chicago Bears, Austin III could be fading into a depth role in Pittsburgh. He should not be trusted as a fantasy starter against Chicago.
Mack Hollins, WR, Patriots
New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins was a non-factor in the offense early in the season, but is starting to make an impact. Over the last four games, Hollins has finished with 64 receiving yards or more. The absence of Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) has led to more targets coming Hollins' way. Once Boutte returns, Hollins figures to see his role reduced, but he should still stay in the gameplan.
Hollins is someone to consider as a flex option for the upcoming Week 12 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
