Carlos Prates Becomes The First Man To Knock Out Leon Edwards
Carlos Prates won his second consecutive fight by defeating former welterweight champion Leon Edwards via second-round knockout on the main card of UFC 322 on Saturday. Prates had struggled to get Edwards off him in the first round and while the round was uneventful, Edwards did a bit more. In the second round, Prates started pressuring Edwards and it took him minute and a half to land a devastating left hand that knocked Edwards out. In 6:28 of action, Prates landed 21 significant strikes. It was Prates' sixth knockout win since the start of 2024 which is more than any other fighter in the promotion. He also became the first fighter to knock Edwards out.
