Darnell Mooney a Big-Play Threat Against Commanders
Darnell Mooney did not practice Friday, but it was a rest day for the veteran receiver, not injury-related. Mooney led the team in targets in Week 3 with 11, but was only able to turn it into four catches for 44 scoreless yards. The 27-year-old likely won't garner double-digit targets again this week, but the good news is that he'll take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Tre Tucker was able to produce eight catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns in this matchup last week, and the speedy Mooney could do similar damage downfield. The 5-foot-11 wideout owned the highest aDOT on the team in 2024 of 12.3 (Drake London was second with 10.8) and also had the most plays of 20 yards or more with 21 (London had 12). Hopefully Michael Penix Jr. will rebound from his poor showing last week and can feed his receivers the ball. That could be a tall order, though, and Mooney shapes up as a WR4/Flex play with some upside in Week 4.
