DK Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 3 stats: three catches for 32 yards and a touchdown
With George Pickens heading to Dallas in the offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Metcalf to serve as their clear WR1. In addition, he saw his skill rise when the Steelers officially signed veteran QB Aaron Rodgers to lead the offense.
In Week 1, this pair already began to establish a strong connection as Metcalf caught four of his seven targets for 83 yards. However, in Weeks 2 and 3, Metcalf combined for just six passes and 52 yards, but was able to salvage his production by finding the end zone in each contest.
As a result, Metcalf has attained double-digit PPR points in each game and averaged an overall 11.8 PPR points. He has seen 5.7 targets per game and has become Rodgers ' go-to option in the passing attack, as the Steelers do not have a proven No. 2 WR.
However, given his lack of yardage over the past two weeks, managers should view Metcalf as a WR3 heading into Week 4. On Sunday, the Steelers will travel to Dublin, Ireland, to face the Minnesota Vikings, who have boasted one of the top defensive units in the NFL this season. In the opening month, the Vikings have allowed the fewest PPR points to opposing WRs.
Despite operating as the team's clear WR1, his matchup will lower him into WR3 territory.
Verdict: WR3 in 12-team formats
Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Week 3 stats: six catches for 89 yards
One of the biggest surprises through the opening weeks of the 2025 season has been the Los Angeles Chargers wideout Johnston. After struggling to produce consistently during his first two NFL seasons, Johnston appears to have taken a massive leap forward in his third NFL season.
As a rookie, Johnston caught only 38 passes for a mere 431 yards. In Year 2, Johnston took a step forward, but did not live up to his first-round draft capital, tallying 711 yards and eight touchdowns on 55 receptions. However, through the first three games of 2025, Johnston appears to be on track for a career season.
In Week 1, Johnston made a major impact in their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, catching two touchdowns with 79 yards on five receptions. In Week 2, Johnston counted the back of one again, and added 71 yards.
Then in Week 3, facing a top Denver secondary, Johnston continued to lead the Los Angeles passing attack, catching six of his nine targets for 89 yards. Despite playing alongside Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey, Johnston has continued to see a consistent number of targets weekly and has emerged as Justin Herbert's top deep threat.
Seeing that he was able to produce against Denver, Johnston could be in store for another strong showing facing a much weaker secondary this weekend, the New York Giants. Through three games, the Giants have allowed the second-most PPR points to opposing WRs, which makes Johnston a strong WR3 in all formats.

Verdict: High-end WR3/FLEX
Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Week 3 stats: eight catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns
Tre Tucker enjoyed a career-high performance in Week 3 and has some intriguing upside heading into Week 4. During their loss to the Washington Commanders, Tucker led the way, catching eight of his nine passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
While he did not display this immense upside earlier in the season, he did see eight targets in Week 2, but was only able to bring in three for a mere 123 yards. In Week 1, he scored a touchdown and added 54 yards on two receptions.
Given that Tucker has seen at least eight targets in each of his past two games, it puts him on the WR3/FLEX radar heading into Week 4. Throughout the first month of the season, Tucker has emerged as the clear WR2 in the offense. Rookie Dont'e Thornton Jr. was gaining traction during the preseason, but it appears Tucker has surpassed him for the time being.
While he will continue to be the No. 2 option to Jakobi Meyers and star tight end Brock Bowers, the Raiders have not been afraid to use the ball downfield, which will benefit Tucker.
This weekend, the Raiders could find themselves in a high-scoring affair against the Chicago Bears. Through three games, the Bears have allowed the fifth-most PPR points to opposing WRs, which will likely provide Tucker a high ceiling in Week 4. He enters this game carrying WR3 value with upside.
Tre Tucker led all NFL players in receiving yards in Week 3 and earned a nomination for FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week.

Verdict: WR3/FLEX
Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills
Week 3 stats: three catches for 20 yards
Coleman showed flashes of upside at times as a rookie, but was not as fantastically relevant as many would have hoped. The former 33rd overall pick only eclipsed double-digit PPR points four times and only surpassed the 15.0 PPR mark twice.
However, Coleman wasted little time making an impact in Week 1, as he caught eight of his 11 targets for 112 yards and a touchdown. However, the second year without it has taken a significant step back over the past two weeks.
In Week 2, Coleman caught all three of his targets for 26 yards. Then in Week 3, facing the Miami Dolphins, Coleman continued to play a reserve role in the passing attack, seeing just four targets and gaining only three of the 20 yards.
As a result, Coleman sits in low-range FLEX territory heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Saints. While the Saints have struggled on the defensive sides of the ball, allowing the 16th-most points to opposing WRs, his inconsistent target share makes him challenging to trust in this matchup.
Managers should only consider starting Coleman in deeper 12+ team leagues that require three starting wide receivers. If these Bills take a significant lead in this game, expect them to lean on their rushing attack throughout most of the second half, which would take Coleman out of the game plan.
Verdict: Low-end WR3/FLEX with risk
Khalil Shakir, WR, Buffalo Bills
Week 3 stats: four catches for 45 yards and a TD
The final wide receiver we will take a look at in this piece is Coleman's teammate, Shakir. Shakir operated as the primary wide receiver last season in Buffalo but has taken a backseat at times in 2025.
In Week 1, Coleman dominated the scoresheet, but Shakir was just as involved, seeing a hefty nine targets. However, he only brought in six for 64 yards. Then, in their demanding victory over the Jets in Week 2, Shakir caught just one of his two targets for a mere 12 yards. In the following game, while Coleman remained in a minimal role, Shakir was able to bounce back, seeing four targets.
He caught all four for 45 yards and his first touchdown of the season.
Similar to Coleman, Shakir's target share has made him tough to trust in the early stages of the season. He has only seen more than five targets in one game (Week 1), despite being portrayed as a clear starting option.
With Josh Allen opting to spread the ball around, Shakir carries similar FLEX value heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Saints, like his teammate Coleman does. His role as the team's slot wideout provides him a higher floor than Coleman, but in a matchup in which the Bills may not look to push the ball downfield, he does not possess much upside.
