Athletics infielder Zack Gelof was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Gelof has spent most of the season injured, but appears to be finally healthy. He has been hitting well in the minors and is deserving of another shot at the big league level. Gelof struggled with a .211/.270./362 slash line with 188 strikeouts last season with the A's. However, Gelof showed some promise with 17 home runs and 25 steals in his 138 games. He figures to get regular playing time down the stretch of the season. In a corresponding move, infielder Luis Urias has been designated for assignment. Possibly, Urias can help a contending organization as a bench piece.--Andy Webb
