Will Nabers Play This Season?
While Nabers has been held out of practice for the past few weeks and their two opening preseason games against the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, the star wideout will not be in danger of missing the entire regular season.
Nabers is currently viewed as a day-to-day with a toe, shoulder, and back injury. However, the coaching staff has yet to show significant concern, which suggests that he will likely remain in this capacity until the start of the regular season.
Will Malik Nabers Play In Week 1?
While the former sixth overall pick will not miss the entire 2025 regular season, he could, however, be in danger of missing their opening contest. Seeing the 22-year-old remain on the sidelines due to several injuries is not a promising sign. This past week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the wideout is working through a back injury.
Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers hasn’t practiced in 11 days after dealing with what multiple sources told ESPN was a minor back problem. One source characterized it as “normal camp tightness.”

Earlier in camp, Nabers was held out of action due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the final week of July, and was being closely monitored during the early stages of camp due to a toe injury.

Pat Leonard of NYDN Sports noted that while the toe injury did not keep him out of the early stages of camp, it was an injury that would need to be closely managed during the regular season.
Brian Daboll did not exude confidence this opening about Malik Nabers’ toe injury that he’s managing. The head coach wouldn’t get into any detail but wouldn’t assuage concerns about Nabers’ surgery and day to day management comments either. Basically said he’s out there right now…

Malik Nabers 2025 Fantasy Outlook
While fantasy managers may consider letting Nabers fall to the final picks in the opening round, they should not wait too long to select the star pass catcher. Despite these injury concerns, neither injury seems overly severe, and the team is likely exercising extreme caution with their franchise cornerstone.
If Nabers can suit up in the team's final preseason game, fantasy managers should draft Nabers with confidence.
Despite playing with subpar QB play during his rookie season from Daniel Jones and Drew Lock, Nabers emerged as one of the game's top wide receivers as he tallied 1,204 yards and seven scores on 109 receptions.
Nabers saw a remarkable 30% of the team's target share and was targeted on 31.0% of his routes. With the Giants not addressing their wide receiver room in the offseason, Nabers should continue to see a heavy dose of targets his way during the regular season. In addition, by bringing in veteran Russell Wilson to lead the offense, Nabers could see improved targets, which could even raise his ceiling.
While there are concerns, fantasy managers should still view him as a locked-in first-round selection in all formats.
