J.J. Wetherholt Hits Seventh Homer in July
J.J. Wetherholt stayed hot on Tuesday against Triple-A Norfolk, going 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a 10-4 win. Wetherholt got the scoring started immediately with a leadoff homer against Orioles lefty Cade Povich, who is out on a major league rehab assignment. The 2024 seventh overall pick has been dialed in at the plate all season between Double-A and Triple-A, hitting .307/.419/.522 with 12 homers, 14 stolen bases, and a 48:48 BB:K ratio in 327 plate appearances. The Cardinals' top prospect is one of the more polished prospects in the minor leagues at the moment, and it isn't out of the question for him to see some time in the major leagues near the end of the season, although it's more likely that St. Louis waits until next year. He should be viewed as a prized asset in dynasty leagues.
