On Saturday's UFC 318 main event, former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier suffered a unanimous decision loss to former featherweight champion and current BMF champion, Max Holloway. A first-round knockdown from the Hawaiian set the tone early as Holloway nearly finished Poirier, but Poirier managed to survive. Poirier then returned the favor near the end of the second round by knocking down Holloway and almost finishing him. It was a close back-and-forth war, but in the end, Holloway walked out with a unanimous decision win. In 25 minutes of action, Poirier landed 109 significant strikes. Even though he didn't win, it is a fitting end for Poirier, who is one of the most exciting fighters of an era and arguably the best fighter to never hold an undisputed title.--Alen Kurbasic
