Keibert Ruiz Leaves Monday's Game With Head Injury
Keibert Ruiz (head) was hit on the right side of his head on Josh Bell's foul ball into the dugout at Petco Park in Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres and was removed from the game, according to MASN's Mark Zuckerman. Riley Adams replaced Ruiz behind the plate and would become Washington's primary catcher if Ruiz is goes into the league's concussion protocol and is placed on the seven-day concussion injured list. Ruiz went 0-for-1 in the game before getting hit in the head in the dugout. The 26-year-old Venezuelan switch-hitting backstop is merely a No. 2 catcher in two-catcher fantasy leagues, as he came into Monday's action hitting a modest .248/.279/.321 with a weak .600 OPS, only two long balls, 24 RBI and 19 runs scored in 246 at-bats this year.
