Matthew Boyd "All Good" for his Next Start
Matthew Boyd (shoulder) is "all good" to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals after coming out of his last start with a bruised left shoulder, according to manager Craig Counsell. Boyd didn't have any issues during his between-starts bullpen session. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw was hit by a comebacker in his last start against the Seattle Mariners last Friday and allowed two earned runs while walking two and striking out six in five innings in a no-decision. Boyd has been a key rotation piece for the Cubbies so far in 2025 with a 6-3 record, 2.84 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB in 85 2/3 frames over his 15 starts. However, a 3.55 xERA and 3.65 FIP point to regression coming for the aging lefty that is only striking out 8.3 hitters per nine innings.
