George Lombard Jr. Still Getting on Base at Double-A
George Lombard Jr. was promoted to Double-A earlier this month after slashing .329/.495/.488 with 11 steals and an impressive 23:22 BB:K in 24 games. The Yankees' top prospect hasn't hit quite as well so far in Double-A, batting .222 with a .241 SLG, but the patient approach has carried over as the 19-year-old boasts a 16:14 BB:K in 17 games, which has helped him to collect an additional six steals. The 2023 first-round draft pick was the biggest riser in MLB.com's May refresh of their top prospects list, moving up 49 spots from No. 93 overall to No. 44. With a strong finish to 2025, he could see Triple-A next year and be knocking on the door to the majors in late 2026, so dynasty managers should be paying close attention to his performance over the next few months.
