Lucas Giolito Bounces Back With Strong Effort Against Royals
Lucas Giolito pitched 6 2/3 strong innings in his team's 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old veteran fired in 59 of 88 pitches for strikes, allowing two hits, no earned runs, one walk, and striking out five. Giolito was dominant for most of Sunday's outing, but a single, a walk, and a throwing error on a bunt (his own) in the bottom of the third were enough for the Royals to push a run across. Still, the right-hander was excellent, doing a good job of limiting hard contact against him. It was a nice bounce-back for him after allowing six earned runs and ten hits to the Rangers his last time out. He'll attempt to continue his solid pitching when he squares off against the Atlanta Braves on the road next week.
