Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups and Streamers for Week 21 (2024-25): March 24 - March 30

Zaccharie Risacher - Fantasy Basketball Rankings, NBA DFS Picks, NBA Injury News

Dan's fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups for Week 21 of the 2024-25 NBA season. Consider these players as fantasy basketball adds, streamers, and stashes.

Did you survive the minefield of players resting this week? I'm not sure I did as I won't know until tomorrow if I advance to the next round of the playoffs in several leagues. But the antics of the Wizards and Jazz have not helped us out as both teams have important fantasy players and have not been forthcoming about their intentions when it comes to playing or resting them. I'm not sure we can trust those players with crucial matchups on the line so I won't be recommending any Jazz or Wizards today.

Most leagues have a weekly moves cap, and some have season-long caps. Always check your league settings to plan how many moves you want to make each week. This week, I will include more names with shorter blurbs to give you many options!

I am a big advocate of being aggressive on the waiver wire! If your league has daily lineups, you should use that to your advantage and maximize your weekly games in H2H formats. I'll give you my top adds for standard leagues (20-40% rostered), deeper formats (less than 20% rostered) every week, and the schedule breakdown for all 30 teams. Let's see who we should be eyeing to add to our teams in Week 21!

Standard Leagues - Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire for Week 20

Percent owned numbers for Yahoo! "Standard Leagues" refer to 10- or 12-team leagues.

Keldon Johnson - SG/SF/PF (37%)

Four more games this week and Johnson retains his spot among my sub-40% rostership picks. He keeps humming along with top-100 value on the strength of 15 points per game on 53% shooting from the field and 82% from the charity stripe over the last two weeks.

He's eligible at three different positions and is a no-brainer add if you need some reliable scoring on solid percentages this week.

Spencer Dinwiddie - PG (31%)

It appears that Spencer Dinwiddie's demise was greatly exaggerated. The veteran has been red-hot since Kyrie Irving went down and forced to play huge minutes with the Mavs being very short-handed in the backcourt.

A lot of managers probably had to cut Dinwiddie after a two-game week, but Dallas plays four times this week and you're going to find a better points and assists pick-up than Dinwiddie.

Zaccharie Risacher - SF/PF (30%)

Congrats if you have held this rookie this long as he's finally stringing together a pretty solid streak of production. His two-week rolling averages consist of 16 points, five rebounds and 2.5 threes on 52% shooting.

We still aren't seeing all that many defensive stats from Risacher and Georges Niang continues to be a nuisance in his side for playing time, but he's doing enough out there in his 28-30 minutes a night to warrant a pick-up or hold if you already have him considering Atlanta plays on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Kevin Huerter - SG/SF (24%)

The Bulls are accidentally winning games and now contending for a spot in the play-in tournament. Unfortunately, Tre Jones just went down for two weeks and they were already without Lonzo Ball in the backcourt.

Huerter started again last night alongside Josh Giddey and Coby White and the three have formed a pretty formidable scoring backcourt. Huerter is pretty one-dimensional in terms of only adding points and threes, but he's still also contributing 1.0 steals per game this year and is hot from behind the arc lately, drilling 13 threes in his last four games while shooting over 50% from the field.

Guerschon Yabusele - PF/C (23%)

The Sixers are nearly entirely out of big men so when Yabusele has been in the lineup, he's been asked to play a lot of minutes. He just went 23-9-5 against the Spurs in his last start and with the Sixers deploying a bunch of young guys around him, Yabu has the green light to fire up as many shots as he wants.

I don't think they will sit him out this week, but keep a close eye on his status. They just can't afford not to play him they resorted to signing Chuma Okeke this week with how short-handed they are in the frontcourt.

Scotty Pippen Jr. - PG/SG (19%)

There's no news lately on Ja Morant's hamstring, so snagging Pippen Jr. for the upcoming week makes sense until we see what Morant's status may be.

Pippen has been great in Ja's absence whether he is starting or coming off the bench. He has a great matchup to start the week against Utah on Tuesday night as well.

Moses Moody - SG/SF (18%)

We don't know how long Stephen Curry is going to be out, but it sounds as if the Warriors are preparing to be without him for at least a few more games. Golden State has pretty much locked up a playoff spot but still needs to keep winning to avoid the play-in series. Steph's injury doesn't sound serious but the Warriors have a relatively soft schedule this week with the Pelicans and Spurs later in the week after a date with Miami to start.

Moses Moody is a baller and some nights his stat sheet is ugly as he does a lot of work on defense. But he's going to get more shots with Steph out and we saw last night what he can do when his shot is falling. I love his game and he's worthy of being rostered in standard leagues at the moment with the secure minutes and role that he has in Golden State.

Deeper Leagues - Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire for Week 20

Percent owned numbers for Yahoo! "Deeper Leagues" refer to 14-team leagues or more.

Kelly Olynyk - PF/C (15%)

The Pelicans need bigs and Olynyk is finally healthy again, playing 22 or more minutes in his last four games and averaging 11-4-4 for New Orleans. We all know by now that Kelly-O is fantasy-relevant with 20+ minutes based on his diversified skill set, so if you need a big man badly, he could fit the bill nicely.

Justin Edwards - SF (15%)

Other than Quentin Grimes, who is just going bonkers on a nightly basis for the Sixers, the other young player who has stood out lately is Justin Edwards.

Edwards has played 40, 30, and 38 minutes in his last three games and scored 18, 19, and 25 points. With Philly in tank mode for the rest of the season, we are likely to see Edwards and other young guys get the majority of the run. With matchups against the Pelicans and Wizards this week, Edwards could be in store for a few really big nights.

Matas Buzelis - SF/PF (13%)

I think I have cut him and added him a half dozen times over the last few months, but last night we were reminded of just how talented of a scorer the rookie Buzelis is as he dropped 31 points against the Lakers in a big road win.

The Bulls need scoring and they have a huge hole in the lineup at PF, so Buzelis should continue to get a chance to prove himself down the stretch.

Gary Trent Jr. - PG/SG/SF (11%)

GTR has settled into a fairly significant role for the Bucks lately, playing 25+ minutes in four straight games. His stats aren't anything exciting, but he's a threes and steals specialist who can get help you win those categories if he continues to play this many minutes. Damian Lillard has been out lately and at some point when he comes back I am sure Milwaukee will want to give Giannis a night off, too.

DaQuan Jeffries - SG (10%)

It's not pretty but Jeffries is providing some low-end production lately as he's played 30+ minutes in six out of the last seven games for Charlotte.

He's mainly a play for points and threes, but he has added some sneaky value in blocks lately with nine swats over his last six games, boosting his per-game average to 0.6 per game this year.

Trey Lyles - PF/C (10%)

Domantas Sabonis is set to miss more time this week, so Lyles should continue to see around 20 minutes a night backing up Jonas Valanciunas at center. He had a few nice games last week and even played 30 minutes against Cleveland when the Kings opted to go smaller and sit Jo-Val.

Lyles has always had a fantasy-friendly game and can offer points, rebounds, and threes from the center position. He's a great fit for a guard-heavy team that is concerned with winning threes and FT% every week.
