One of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football is still on the market two days after free agency’s legal tampering period opened up.

After suffering a season-ending injury a few plays into his first game as a New York Jet in 2023, Aaron Rodgers’ 2024 season did not go as planned either. The Jets struggled to a 5-12 record despite Rodgers starting every game.

While there are quarterback-needy teams out there, teams seem to be hesitant to take a chance on the 41-year-old future Hall-of-Famer. Where will Rodgers play in the upcoming 2025 season?

Pittsburgh Steelers

One team that has been heavily linked to Rodgers is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have struggled to find a quarterback ever since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement in 2022. After letting Justin Fields walk to the New York Jets, Pittsburgh’s options appear to be either incumbent starter Russell Wilson or Rodgers unless they turn to the draft.

Out of the teams searching for a starting quarterback, Pittsburgh is the most equipped to win and would be an ideal landing spot for the veteran.

New York Giants

If he wants to stay in the state of New York (and the same stadium, for that matter), the New York Giants could be a landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. 

After letting Daniel Jones go, the Giants currently only have Tommy DeVito under contract. While they do hold the third pick in the NFL Draft and will likely select a quarterback, Rodgers could land with the Giants as a bridge quarterback and a mentor. Staying with a big-market team may be all Rodgers wants at this point in his career, which would make the Giants an intriguing spot for him.

Minnesota Vikings

This one is probably a longshot at this point, but what if Rodgers followed Brett Favre’s career arc and headed to the Minnesota Vikings for a second wind after a failed stint with the Jets?

Minnesota let Sam Darnold walk to Seattle and let Daniel Jones head to Indianapolis, paving a clear path for last year’s first-rounder J.J. McCarthy to hold the starting job on day one. This team still needs a backup quarterback after losing Darnold and Jones. What if McCarthy isn’t quite ready to produce at an NFL level?

If Minnesota were interested in kicking the tires on Rodgers, this would be the best-possible landing spot for the 41-year-old. Behind head coach Kevin O’Connell, Sam Darnold resurrected his career here a season ago. Rodgers could do the same in a loaded offense.

Cleveland Browns

It’s hard to imagine that Aaron Rodgers would be interested in going to Cleveland, but at the end of the day it may be one of his only opportunities to keep playing football. The Browns hold the second pick in the NFL Draft and will likely select a quarterback, but what if they opted to go a different direction and brought in Rodgers to compete with newly-acquired Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson for 2025?

This team feels like it is a quarterback away from being competitive and while they may not have the opportunity to pick this high in the draft in a while again, they could opt for the known commodity in Rodgers and add a blue-chip talent like Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter in the draft.
