10 Worst QB Performances From Week 8, Including Mason Rudolph and Caleb Williams

Bryce Young - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Quincy Milton ranks the 10 worst quarterback performances for Week 8 of the 2024 season. Mason Rudolph, Caleb Williams, and others make the list of 10 underperformers.

Quarterback play across the board was actually pretty good in Week 8. There were numerous 300-yard passers around the league which made for exciting and high-scoring games.

With the amount of solid performances this week, this column will have to be a bit nit-picky. Still, there were a fair number of low-end quarterback performances headlined by Caleb Williams and Mason Rudolph.

As the season continues to progress, hopefully, we will have more weeks like this with stellar quarterback play. However, this could simply be a glitch in the matrix. Only time will tell. Let's check out the poorest performances from Week 8.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

10. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

This is a little bit unfair to Lawrence because he actually played pretty well. However, with how well most of the league's quarterbacks played in Week 8, somebody had to end up on this list.

Lawrence and the Jaguars offense could not get going for most of the first two quarters against the Green Bay Packers. Fortunately, they figured things out in the second half and Lawrence almost led the Jaguars to victory. The Packers managed to pull it out in the end but there were several plays that Lawrence should have made earlier in the game that would have given the Jaguars a chance to win.

9. Gardner Minshew II, Las Vegas Raiders

Minshew has successfully made this list once again but it is another case of a player who had a lesser week among titans. Minshew was able to keep the Raiders in the game and go toe-to-toe with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

Minshew threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Ultimately, the Raiders offense lacked explosion once again in the absence of Davante Adams. At least Minshew managed to avoid a multiple-turnover game.

8. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mayfield continued his ridiculous passing-yard output in Week 8, but he has caught a turnover bug that he just can't shake. After throwing two interceptions in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, Mayfield has now thrown multiple interceptions in three straight games.

It is going to be tough sledding for Mayfield without Mike Evans or Chris Godwin in the lineup. Given that the Buccaneers only lost this game by five points, Mayfield likely cost them the game with his picks. He will look to bounce back in Week 9 against a difficult Kansas City Chiefs defense.

7. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Love had a tough outing in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars as he battled through a groin injury. Love was ultimately forced from the game with the injury as well. The Jaguars held him to 196 passing yards and an interception before his exit.

Love's turnovers continue to be a problem in 2024. Luckily for him, the Packers were still able to win this game. Hopefully, he can get back on the field sooner rather than later.

6. Mason Rudolph, Tennessee Titans

Rudolph continues to fill in for the injured Will Levis. In two starts, he has found himself on this list both times. The Lions put an absolute beat down on the Titans in Week 8.

Rudolph started hot and showed a surprisingly great rapport with wide receiver Calvin Ridley. However, the Lions figured out the duo quickly. Rudolph would finish the game with 266 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. It wasn't all his fault as the defense and special teams did the offense no favors.

5. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

Smith finds himself on this list after failing to get the Seahawks offense to do anything in Week 8. The Seahawks suffered a brutal loss at home to the Buffalo Bills. The NFL's passing yard leader was held to 212 yards and an interception.

The Seahawks had no answer for a solid Bills pass rush and a run defense that stepped up in a major way in Week 8. The Seahawks seem to keep swapping offensive identities from game to game. Hopefully, Smith can get back on track in Week 9.

4. Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

Rattler finds himself on this list once again after failing to spark the Saints' offense in Week 8. Rattler finished with 156 yards and no touchdowns against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8. The Saints did not score an offensive touchdown.

Rattler's days as the starter are numbered at this point with Derek Carr nearing a return. His audition over the last few weeks has yielded some good moments but the Saints offense has failed to produce much output.

3. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

Williams reverted to his state of looking squarely like a rookie in Week 8 when the Bears visited the Washington Commanders. In a duel of 2024's top two draft picks, Williams failed to live up to the hype for most of the game. He came alive in the fourth quarter, but Jayden Daniels worked his magic to get the Commanders the win.

At least Williams managed to get his passing yardage numbers up over 100 yards after a rough first three quarters. Williams should be able to bounce back from this game but it is concerning that this performance came following a bye.

2. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers offense under Young continues to lack any explosive element. Young managed to throw two second-half interceptions against the Denver Broncos and seemed to fall back into the poor play that he has displayed in the past.

While Young played nominally better in Week 8 than he has throughout his career, it is unlikely that he did much to unseat Andy Dalton as the incumbent starter. When Dalton is healthy, expect him to reclaim this job.

1. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

Richardson seems to actually be getting worse in 2024. He completed less than one-third of his passes in Week 8 en route to 175 passing yards. Richardson added one passing touchdown and an interception.

Richardson's performances of late have people wondering if the Colts should consider a quarterback change. If they believe Richardson is the future then they need to continue to let him develop through his growing pains but they need to simplify this offense and make things easier on Richardson.
