Fantasy Football WR Injury Reports: Week 5 Updates For Davante Adams, Malik Nabers, Khalil Shakir, more

Khalil Shakir - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Fantasy football WR injury updates and reports for Week 5 (2024), as of 10/5. Includes updates on Davante Adams, Malik Nabers, Khalil Shakir, and more.

Fantasy football's number-one receiver will sit out this week, a veteran is pushing his way to another team, and the injury for an emerging wideout is still a mystery. Other than that, it's a relatively quiet wide receiver injury report for the week.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page. Also, download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news.

Let's look at the updates for some wide receivers and see whether they may play in Week 5.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Davante Adams (LV) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

Blame it on the hamstring injury or blame it on the trade request, Davante Adams is sitting out Week 5 regardless.

He's officially listed on the injury report, but he and the Raiders have mutually agreed to his trade request. He won't suit up until he's donning a new uniform, whenever and wherever that may be.

Brandin Cooks (DAL) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

Brandin Cooks is expected to miss several games after contracting an infection in his knee following an injection.

Jalen Tolbert will see an uptick in snaps and targets with Cooks sidelined. KaVontae Turpin will also be more involved. Still, this remains mostly a two-man passing attack in Dallas with CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson.

Romeo Doubs / Christian Watson (GB) Injury Update

Game Status: Doubtful

The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver room is missing some familiar faces. Christian Watson was a long shot to play Sunday with an ankle sprain. He's officially ruled as doubtful despite not practicing at all this week.

Romeo Doubs hasn't practiced either due to a personal matter. Head coach Matt LaFleur said they were hopeful Doubs would return to the team in time to play against the Rams. That appears unlikely.

Tight end Luke Musgrave also didn't practice this week. Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Tucker Kraft will be the primary options for Jordan Love on Sunday. Wicks and Kraft, in particular, are respectable options for starting lineups this week. The Packers draw the Los Angeles Rams, a defense allowing the second-most points per game (28.8).

Cooper Kupp (LAR) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

As expected, Cooper Kupp will miss Week 5 with his ankle injury. It's the third straight game that Kupp will roam the sidelines.

Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington have emerged as the preferred options for Matthew Stafford, with Puka Nacua also out of the lineup. Both receivers are sleepers in a game that the Rams will need to throw to keep pace with the Green Bay Packers. Demarcus Robinson will also play 85-90% of the snaps.

Malik Nabers (NYG) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

Malik Nabers suffered a concussion in the waning moments of the team's loss to the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. Although the rookie had extra time to proceed through the league's concussion protocol, he wasn't cleared.

Daniel Jones has centered his pass attempts around two players: Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson. With Nabers out of the lineup, Robinson should easily clear double-digit targets.

Ricky Pearsall (SF) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

San Francisco rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will wait a little longer to make his NFL debut. Pearsall was shot during a robbery just before the season began. He's been on injured reserve. His 21-day practice window could have opened this week, but the 49ers believe he needs more time.

As would be the case if Pearsall was healthy, Deebo Samuel Sr., Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Jauan Jennings will be the top targets for Brock Purdy in a fantastic matchup against Arizona.

Rashee Rice (KC) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT / Injured reserve

It's still unclear what's going on with Rashee Rice. He was placed on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at least four games. It's likely to be a longer absence than that, but we're standing by to see if he's out for the rest of the season. The team is waiting for the swelling in his knee to subdue before conducting additional testing.

Khalil Shakir (BUF) Injury Update

Game Status: OUT

Josh Allen will be without his go-to wide receiver in a clash between two AFC elites. Shakir injured his ankle in the blowout loss to Baltimore in Week 4. He returned to the game. But when the adrenaline wore off, Shakir couldn't practice all week.

Josh Allen will make plays through the air and on the ground against Houston, but it'll be difficult to trust any other Buffalo wide receivers. Dalton Kincaid and Keon Coleman will see a bump in targets. Curtis Samuel should see more snaps. Fantasy managers should only trust the tight end in starting lineups.
