Martin Truex Jr. will start P11 in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In his 36 Cup starts at "The Jewel of the Desert," Truex has just one win, an average finish of 15.3, and five DNFs, which is the second most in the series. While these results are certainly underwhelming, there is a case to be made for the reigning regular-season Cup Series champion heading into Sunday's race. Specifically, since 2022, MTJ has performed quite well at flat-banked tracks. In these 11 starts, he is averaging 56.49 points on DraftKings, which is the second most among active Cup drivers. What is of further interest is how fast Toyota has looked this weekend at Phoenix. During Friday's practice, Toyota finished with three of the top five speeds and seven of the top 12. On Saturday, Toyota followed it up by securing three of the top five starting positions, including both spots on the front row.
