Kristaps Porzingis Has Historic Debut With Celtics

Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis got his career in Beantown off to a historic start with a 30-point effort in Wednesday's 108-104 victory over New York. It's the most points a player has recorded in his Celtics debut. Dominique Wilkins had held the record for 29 years with 25 points. Porzingis hit the historic mark with 8-for-15 shooting, including a 5-for-9 effort from deep. He was also very impactful defensively by swatting away four shots and came just two rebounds short of posting a double-double. Only Jayson Tatum (34) scored more points than him in the contest, with Jaylen Brown settling for 11 points and Jrue Holiday debuting with nine points. Based on his first game, Porzingis looks like a great fit for the Celtics, and he should enjoy a very fruitful campaign if he avoids injuries.
