Winnipeg Jets center Mason Appleton is currently out of commission with a lower-body injury. The team regards him as day-to-day. Appleton played his second preseason game Wednesday versus Calgary, but it looks like he won't be able to take the ice Friday against Ottawa. The Jets have two more preseason contests coming up next week, and Appleton might then be ready to feature again. The 27-year-old power forward missed half of last season and must be desperate to get himself fully ready for the 2023-24 campaign. Appleton spent some time on the first line last term and posted 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 41 games with 71 shots on goal and 47 hits. It's possible he could've made an even bigger impact if it weren't for an early-season wrist injury, which required surgery and sidelined Appleton for three months.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
