Colorado Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano (neck) is hoping to be cleared to participate in his team's season opener on Oct. 11 versus the Los Angeles Kings. The veteran suffered multiple fractures in his neck during the first round of the 2023 playoffs but ultimately did not require surgery. The 36-year-old credits not wearing a neck brace for his recovery, stating "I think if you wear a brace, your neck muscles don't respond well". A veteran of 1,219 regular-season games and another 120 postseason contests, Cogliano notched 10 goals and 19 points across 79 games with the Avalanche last season while averaging 12:37 of ice time per game.--Brenton Kemp
