Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis (back) will unlikely be able to continue his NHL career. The 32-year-old has missed all but five games since the start of the 2021-22 season and it looks like he will be forced to call it quits because of a torn psoas muscle in his back. According to Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones, Ellis is still "exhausting everything that he can in order to play", but the team doesn't expect him back. Ellis made himself a name with the Nashville Predators, playing 10 years with the club and reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. He was traded to Philadelphia in the 2021 offseason and Ellis has played only a handful of games since then. The Canadian blue-liner has registered 275 points (76 goals, 199 assists) in 566 regular-season games In the NHL.--Taavi Pailk
