Ilya Sorokin And Semyon Varlamov Extend Stay With Islanders

New York islanders goaltenders Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov have agreed to contract extensions with the club. Sorokin has inked a big eight-year extension with an average annual value of $8.25 million and Varlamov's new contract will take up $2.75 million of the salary cap for the next four years. Sorokin's contract will kick in next season. The two Russian netminders have given the Islanders one of the best goalie tandems in the league and it looks like they won't be broken up for quite some time. Sorokin and Varlamov combined for a .921 save percentage last season, which was second-best in the league, behind only the dominant Boston Bruins (.931).
