Dylan Carlson Could Be Heading To Injured List
1 year agoThe St. Louis Cardinals are calling up outfielder Oscar Mercado from the minors for Wednesday's game, which would indicate that outfielder Dylan Carlson (ankle) is headed for a stint on the injured list. Carlson suffered a sprained left ankle on Sunday and isn't quite ready to return to action for the Red Birds. Giving the struggling 24-year-old some more time off probably won't hurt, as he's hitting only .230 (23-for-100) with four doubles, a triple, two home runs, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored in 108 plate appearances over 32 games played. He's been even worse in 12 games in May, going 8-for-41 (.195) with two home runs, seven RBI and nine strikeouts. Lars Nootbaar should start in center field for St. Louis with Carlson on the mend.
