Joey Lucchesi Starting Friday's Game
Joey Lucchesi will make his first appearance in the big leagues since 2021 when he starts Friday's contest against the San Francisco Giants. Over his career, the 29-year-old owns a 4.24 ERA, 4.12 FIP, 24.5% strikeout rate, and 1.27 WHIP. So far this season, Lucchesi has pitched to a 2.30 ERA with 16 punchouts across 15.2 innings at Triple-A. After Carlos Carrasco (elbow) went on the shelf a few days ago, the Mets needed another arm to join the rotation. It isn't clear how long Lucchesi will be a part of the staff, as Justin Verlander (shoulder) is likely coming back in early May. Fantasy managers looking for help in the starting pitcher department can take a chance on the former San Diego Padres draft pick but shouldn't expect a whole lot of production.
