Nationals Designate A.J. Alexy For Assignment
                
        
        The Washington Nationals designated right-hander A.J. Alexy for assignment on Monday. The move was made to clear 40-man roster space for new signing Dominic Smith. Alexy pitched for the Texas Rangers this past season. He allowed 10 hits, nine earned runs, and nine walks in seven innings while striking out six batters. The right-hander also made 31 appearances for Texas' Triple-A affiliate, 16 of which were starts. In those 31 appearances, he logged 96 innings and pitched to a 5.91 ERA, a 6.88 FIP, 103 strikeouts, and 56 walks.
