Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (8/12) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Tuesday, August 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 13th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Daily Musings

  • Gio Urshela. Can't stop. Won't stop. Seven HR in his last seven games.
  • Gleyber Torres loves to see orange & black. Three more = 13HR vs. O's this season. Record!!
  • Aristides Aquino truly punishes. 425-footer(8). 17.6%Brls/PA.
  • Trey Mancini gives local fans something to cheer about w/28th & 29th ooh-la-la.
  • Hanser Alberto gives keystone another option. He loves to chase(48.6%), but SwingStrike rate only 8.2%. 27%Hard-hit rate. Meh.
  • Disco Inferno! Burn the mutha down! Anthony DeSclafani started the fire. 4IP, 6ER, 3K. Hoping for better vs. Cardinals.
  • Trea Turner's been throwing steel around. 11th big-gun salute.
  • All 16 of Jesse Winker's long-distance deposits have been against right-handers. Next six games vs. RH. Enjoy!
  • Blue Jays score 19 runs?! Surely there's a ton of HR from Bo Bichette, Vlad Guerrero Jr. & Cavan Biggio. Nope, none.
  • Bo Bichette did have four hits and a SB(two). YES! Do it again.
  • Danny Jansen w/two taters in three games(11). Hype train picking up steam.
  • Nomar Mazara had so much wished-fantasy promise. 38%Chase, 12%SwingStrike, 74%Contact are wanting. Maybe a value in 2020 if he can improve. Only 24 years old.
  • 47%Fly ball of Rougned Odor gets you 21HR, but also a .208AVG.
  • Willie Calhoun gets double-digit dingers(10).
  • I Need A Hero! Carlos Santana, at your service. 26HR, 71RBI, .286AVG.
  • Jose Ramirez w/yet another love letter(17). Package that w/24SB, .250AVG. Discount shoppers in 2020.
  • Brad Hand has his strategies. Second-straight blown save. Second-straight win(six).
  • X still trying to give it to ya. Xander Bogaerts working on total package w/fourth SB to go w/25HR, .304AVG
  • J.D. Martinez has hit 6HR, 12RBI, .404AVG last two weeks. Slow & Steady might reach 40.
  • Carson Kelly still getting the last laugh. 17HR.
  • Nick Ahmed hitting .300 w/five scoops of joy and 24RBI in last month. It falls on deaf ears.
  • Trevor Story matches second-best homer total(27), still aiming for 37.
  • Raimel Tapia hitting .414 in last week. Let him play, let him play.
  • Josh Bell has done it, Josh Bell has done it! 30 shots across the bow.
  • Ian Kinsler still playing baseball? I thought he was making bats and t-shirts. Check ninth HR off the agenda.
  • Joey Lucchesi, you need to clean it up. We're going to Phillies' house and you can't act like you did w/Rays (4.2IP, 3ER, 6K).
  • Have a great Tuesday. The day can be sunny all day if you want it to be.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
