Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (7/12) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Saturday, July 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on July 13th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Kris Bryant gets 18th HR; gives Craig Kimbrel his third SV chance. Signed, sealed, delivered.
  • Chris Archer looking streamable vs Cubs w/6IP, 3ER, 10K. STL next is a solid matchup. Explosive material though.
  • Ryan Zimmerman hitting .333 since his return. Splitting time w/Matt Adams though.
  • Edwin Encarnacion w/25HR &59RBI, but only a ..219AVG. .205BABIP thinks things will get even better. Yes please.
  • Domingo German is one of best values of draft. 11-2. 21.2K-BB%.
  • Nate Lowe destruction continues.4-for-5 w/third HR. Camden series followed by series in Yankee Stadium brings many smiles.
  • Joey Wendle. Only 6% owned. Season numbers are bad. Last 14 days. .308 w/fourth SB. Get in on this. Keep in mind playing time might get tight. Go ‘head Mr. Wendle.
  • If your team needs power, Renato Nunez only 22% owned. 21HR, 51RBI w/.243AVG. He’s playing at home too. Bonus.
  • Yonny concert was free-flowing. 7IP, 2ER, 8K. Yonny Chirinos was stellar while Bundy was begging for mercy.
  • Dylan Bundy w/1IP, 7ER, 1K. HOT DAMN, that’s brutal.
  • Smooth operator. Rafael Devers gets 17th tater.
  • Eduardo Rodriguez w/stamina vs. LAD. Wow. 7IP, 1ER, 10K.
  • Garrett Cooper batting .311 will reach double-digit HRs(nine) for your cause.
  • Oooh, Jose Ramirez gets on his horses quick. 2-for-4 w/SB(19). Still ton of value.
  • Mike Clevinger still needs more time to be dominant. 5IP, 1ER, 6K.
  • Was there even a break as hitters keep destroying.
  • Evan Longoria w/13th long ball.
  • Josh Hader gives up runs? 2IP, 2ER, 3K. This has to be nonsense.
  • Daniel Ponce de Leon looked excellent. 6.2IP, 1ER, 7K. 32.5%K rate. 7% owned. Get this guy if he’s given a rotation. Still excellent ratios out of bullpen.
  • Greg Holland allays fears one more day. 15th SV.
  • Daniel Murphy isn’t giving you what you wanted. A little is better than nothing. 8th HR, .283AVG.
  • 36-year-old Shin-Soo Choo is terrific. 65% owned. 14th HR.
  • Can anyone stop Yuli Gurriel? 15th HR. The AVG you expected nearly within reach (.277).
  • Ya-Ya goes yard. Two times. Nine HR for Yordan Alvarez.
  • Joey Gallo still hitting w/.274. APPLAUSE! Oh, 21st HR too.
  • THUNDER! Ramon Laureano continues his hotness. 431ft. Monster Jam! 17th HR to go with 10SB. 55% owned.
  • Scherzer has start pushed back. Dammit!! Oh, he gets Orioles instead. DYNOMITE!
  • It was a night for Tyler Skaggs in Anaheim. Combined no-hitter for Angels. Skaggs jerseys spread across mound. Emotional. This is baseball. Happy Birthday Tyler.
  • Mike Trout CLOBBERED his 29th homer for 454ft. Anger & frustration & hope put into that swing.
  • If you haven’t checked yet, Luke Jackson has 15 saves.
  • Have a great Saturday. Sorry for the quickness. It's vacation time.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
