Welcome back, RotoBalllers! We will enter the heart of the fantasy baseball offseason soon, and there's no better time to start preparing for your upcoming drafts than now. Today, our MLB team breaks down the shortstop position with our 2025 fantasy baseball shortstop rankings and tiers for 5x5 mixed roto leagues. Shortstop is loaded with talent, as four of the top 15 players ranked overall have shortstop eligibility. Bobby Witt Jr. and Elly De La Cruz are the cream of the crop and ranked first and second among all shortstops in our rankings.
If it weren't for Shohei Ohtani's incredible season (54 homers, 59 stolen bases), Witt Jr. could have made the case of being fantasy baseball's top overall player after slashing .332/.389/.588 with 32 homers, and 31 steals over 161 games. De La Cruz was electric on the base paths and led the MLB with 67 stolen bases last year. If you miss out on the elite tier, there are still some solid fantasy options as you go down the list, with Ezequiel Tovar, Anthony Volpe, Matt McLain, Jeremy Pena, and Masyn Winn as decent fallback options.
