Yordan Alvarez (OF, HOU) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Kyle Bishop profiles Astros outfield prospect Yordan Alvarez as a waiver wire pickup and add in Week 8 of the 2019 MLB season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 31% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Yordan Alvarez continues to demolish Triple-A. With another two-homer game on Thursday (he also doubled), the 21-year-old now has a ridiculous 17 bombs in 36 games. He's hitting .410/.497/.903. We're running out of superlatives for his performance at this point.

The question now is when - not if - he'll be promoted to the majors. The Astros, owners of the best record and best lineup in baseball, don't really need him, and he's also not on the 40-man roster right now. Still, how much longer can they justify keeping him in Round Rock, particularly when primary DH Tyler White is hitting just .230/.333/.284 and striking out in nearly 36 percent of his plate appearances?

#FreeYordanAlvarez. And if he's still free to add in your league, you'd better change that now.
