Yan Gomes Looking For Redemption After Rough 2016

Following the 2014 season, Yan Gomes seemed primed to become one of the game's top offensive catchers after hitting .278 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI. Instead, he stumbled out of the gate in 2015 and finished with a disappointing 12 home runs and .231 batting average.

Gomes had as rough a first half as any player can have, hitting .218 with just three home runs and 10 RBI. His power returned during the second half as he hit nine home runs and drove in 35, but it was not enough to offset earlier damage to his cumulative line. Despite all of that, fantasy owners should stick by Gomes, as the slugging catcher has "comeback" written all over him. A year after putting up a robust slash of .331/.517/.879 against lefthanders, he found himself hapless against them, flapping together a .208/.248/.297 slash. As a career lefty-killer, our 11th-ranked catcher needs only to right that ship to return to his explosive ways.
