Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/9/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Yahoo DFS advice and daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 5/9/17 by Justin Klein. MLB DFS player recommendations for your Yahoo daily tournaments and GPPs.

Happy Tuesday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are 16 games on the docket Tuesday with two afternoon tilts and the rest happening in the evening. All 14 of the evening games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. The start times range from 7:05 to 10:10 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/9/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Colorado Rockies at home against John Lackey and the Cubs at the hitter's paradise of Coors Field. Lackey has allowed a 21.6% HR/FB thus far this season along with a 5.14 ERA. While his FIP and xFIP are lower he's had a bad season and it's unlikely to get better on Tuesday night. The Rockies should score some runs and I wouldn't be surprised to see some crooked numbers on the scoreboard at Coors Field.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Max Scherzer at BAL ($60)

Mad Max has been fantastic this season as he's posted 30.2 fantasy points per game this season. On Tuesday night he'll face the Orioles at Camden Yards as a huge favorite. While he's enormously expensive at $60 he's worth paying up for on Tuesday night. I expect a ton of strikeouts along with solid ratios in a likely win. Scherzer is so expensive that many will consider fading him, but unless it all goes wrong, it's hard to see him post less than 25 points.

Charlie Morton vs ATL ($34)

Charlie Morton will face off with Bartolo Colon and the Braves at home at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night and he's the biggest favorite on the slate. Charlie used to be an afterthought in the fake game but he's relevant once again as he's managed a 10.32 K/9 along with a 3.09 FIP and a 3.16 xFIP. At Yahoo Morton has posted 19.7 fantasy points per game and yet he's still just $34 on Tuesday night. Not only is he expected to win, but Charlie should also post solid ratios along with a boatload of K's. He's easily the best value play on the slate and it's not even close.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Gary Sanchez at CIN ($18)

Gary and the Yankees will face off with RHP Tim Adleman at the bandbox known as Citizen's Bank Park on Tuesday night and that bodes well for him and his owners in the fake game. In his brief career Sanchez has mashed RHP to the tune of a .309 ISO, .430 wOBA and a 176 wRC+.

First Base (1B) - Carlos Santana at TOR ($15)

Santana was a solid choice on Monday and he is again on Tuesday. Both nights he faced off with a RHP in the hitter friendly confines of the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Over his career Carlos has torched RHP with a .212 ISO a .351 wOBA and a wRC+ of 121. Mike Bolsinger has not been good against LHH in his career as he has allowed a .368 wOBA to southpaws along with a triple slash of .303/.385/.463. Sounds like a good target to me.

Second Base (2B) - Jason Kipnis at TOR ($10)

Kipnis against a RHP for just ten dollars at a hitter friendly park seems like a good deal regardless of the matchup. Mike Bolsinger is indeed the pitcher that Jason will face at the Rogers Centre and that bodes well for Kipnis and his owners in the fake game. In his career Jason has cranked out a .350 wOBA and a 122 wRC+ against RHP. Not only is Jason a great value, but he also has a superb matchup, so join me and get him into all of your lineups.

Third Base (3B) - Alex Bregman - vs ATL ($11)

On Tuesday night Bregman and the Astros will face RHP Bartolo Colon at home at Minute Maid Park. While it's not the best matchup on the docket it's a decent one as Alex has posted a .165 ISO against northpaws in his career. For just eleven bucks it's a good value on a night when pinching pennies is important.

Shortstop (SS) - Trevor Story vs CHC ($16)

Story hasn't hit for average this season, but he has already managed six home runs. On Tuesday night he'll face RHP John Lackey at home at Coors Field. That's a good bet for Story because he's managed to mash RHP at home to the tune of a .309 ISO, a .399 wOBA and a 117 wRC+. For $16 I'm game to take that bet on Tuesday night.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Carlos Gonzalez vs CHI ($12)

Cargo has had a rough start to the season thus far, but a lot of that has to do with his poor luck on batted balls as he's currently sporting a .225 BABIP. That's about a hundred points lower than expected, so his average is bound to come up when his luck turns around. On Tuesday night Cargo and the Rockies face off with John Lackey and the Cubs at Coors Field. That bodes well for Cargo and his owners in the fake game as he's posted a .312 ISO, .438 wOBA and a wRC+ of 150 at home against RHP in his career. For just twelve bucks Cargo is a great matchup play and a terrific value.

Jose Bautista vs CLE ($9)

Joey Bats is a frequent choice of late as he's very cheap because of his struggles thus far this season. With such a long track record of success it's hard to pass up on him. Tuesday night he'll face off with RHP Carlos Carrasco and while that doesn't appear to be a solid matchup on the surface Bautista has great numbers against RHP. In his career at home Bautista has destroyed RHP to the tune of a .242 ISO, a .377 wOBA and a 135 wRC+. While he's now 36 years old Bautista posted a .235 ISO against RHP at home last season. Those are numbers that I trust and for just nine bucks I believe we'll see them again soon.
