Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/11/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Yahoo DFS advice and daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 5/11/17 by Justin Klein. MLB DFS player recommendations for your Yahoo daily tournaments and GPPs.

Happy Thursday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are 11 games on the docket Wednesday with two afternoon tilts and the rest happening in the evening. All nine of the evening games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. The start times range from 7:05 to 10:15 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/11/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Colorado Rockies against Hyun-jin Ryu and the Los Angeles Dodgers at home at the hitter's paradise of Coors Field. This matchup has far and away the highest over/under line on the evening slate at 10 and 1/2 and I expect the Rockies to do the majority of the scoring. If you want to be sneaky you can start Tyler Anderson along with as many of Colorado's bats as you can get in the lineup. Anderson has been good at home in his career and the Dodgers tend to struggle quite a bit against LHP. Other Rockies I like include (but aren't limited to) Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Ian Desmond and Mark Reynolds.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Michael Fulmer at LAA ($45)

Fulmer has been solid this season as he's posted 22.6 fantasy points per game. On Thursday night he will face off with JC Ramirez and the Angels at the pitcher friendly Angels park in Anaheim. This is a great matchup for Michael and the Tigers because the Angels offense is fairly weak and they've been without Mike Trout since May 5th. Without the best player in baseball the Angels offense gets even weaker and the matchup gets even better for Fulmer. Even though the Angels are a small favorite I expect Fulmer to deliver solid ratios and a good amount of K's in a QS and possibly even a win.

JC Ramirez vs DET ($35)

JC Ramriez is on the other side of the pitching duel in Anaheim tonight across from Michael Fulmer and the Tigers. Although Remirez and the Angels are slight favorites I expect a close game that could go either way. In any case it should be a low scoring affair as it has the lowest over/under on the evening slate at just seven runs. Even if Ramirez were to get hit up a bit I totally expect him to pile up the K's as he's managed 8.92 K's per nine thus far this season along with a solid 3.74 ERA, 3.24 FIP and a 3.67 xFIP. I don't expect JC to get hit up, but rather post solid ratios with a healthy amount of K's in a likely quality start and possible win.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Buster Posey vs CIN ($18)

Buster Posey has been red hot as he's homered in three consecutive games. On Thursday night he'll likely face off with Bronson Arroyo and the Reds at home at AT&T Park. I say likely because Buster has played in six consecutive games, and even though two of them were at first base, there is a decent chance that he gets a night off. If that is the case I would likely pivot to his backup catcher Nick Hundley who has also mashed Arroyo in his career. If not it bodes well for the red hot Posey as he's faced Bronson in his career and managed seven hits across fifteen at bats including two doubles and a HR.

First Base (1B) - Mike Napoli vs SD ($9)

Mike Napoli will face off with LHP Clayton Richard and the Padres at home at the hitter friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas on Thursday night. This bodes well for Napoli and his owners in the fake game as he has crushed LHP in his career and that is especially true at home. In his career he's managed a .395 on base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage with a .264 ISO and a 147 wRC+ against southpaws at home. For just nine bucks you can get a great matchup and a great value option into your lineups on Thursday night.

Second Base (2B) - Joe Panik vs CIN ($12)

Joe Panik is a solid value play at second base tonight and I only like him more if he is high up in the lineup. There is a chance that he is buried in the lineup and I pivot away from him, but for now I like pairing a Giants stack with a Rockies stack for the good old double stack on Thursday night. In his career against RHP Panik has notched a .330 wOBA and a 111 wRC+. Those aren't the best numbers, but solid when considering his matchup and price point.

Third Base (3B) - Nolan Arenado - vs LAD ($22)

Nolan Arenado will face off with LHP Hyun-jin Ryu at home at Coors Field on Thursday night and that bodes well for him and his owners in the fake game. Not only is Ryu a below average LHP and Coors Field a hitter's paradise, but Arenado absolutely destroys left handed pitching at home. In his career he's mashed LHP at home to the tune of a .346 ISO, .432 wOBA and a wRC+ of 155. It doesn't matter how expensive Nolan is Thursday night as he's worth it; regardless of the price. At $22 he feels like a bargain and I suggest that you join me and get Arenado into all of your lineups Thursday night.

Shortstop (SS) - Jorge Polanco at CHW ($10)

I recommended Polanco on Wednesday night as he was supposed to face off with LHP Derek Holland at the hitter friendly confines of Guaranteed Rate Field. That game was postponed and is now scheduled to take place on Thursday evening and here I am recommending Jorge again. In his career against LHP Jorge has slashed a solid .304/.341/.482 with a .179 ISO. With a tremendous park shift to Chicago I like this matchup even more, and at just ten bucks Polanco is a solid value play to boot (taboot taboot).

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Ian Desmond vs LAD ($15)

Ian Desmond is scheduled to face off with LHP Hyun-jin Ryu at home at Coors Field Thursday night and he's probably licking his chops right now in anticipation. That's because over his career at home against LHP Ian has managed a .202 ISO, .363 wOBA and a wRC+ of 127. On a night when the Rockies will likely rack up the runs I expect Desmond to help produce a few of them and because of that I want him in most of my lineups.

Hunter Pence vs CIN ($12)

Hunter Pence has struggled a bit this season and is fairly cheap because of it. On Thursday night he'll face off with Bronson Arroyo and the Reds at home at AT&T Park and that's a good thing for Pence in the fake game. Over his career Hunter has faced Arroyo 48 times and in those at bats he notched 14 hits including four doubles, a triple and two HR.
