WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/8/23): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings, FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/8/23. Expert WNBA DFS advice for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Big day of WNBA action. We've got a Connecticut/Seattle game in the afternoon, followed by a four-game main slate, headlined by a big game between the Aces and the Wings, who handed Vegas one of just three losses this season. The Aces are also looking to bounce back after they were blown out by the Liberty last time out.

If you're looking for WNBA daily fantasy picks and some betting advice this season, then you're in the right place. I'll be here providing picks for any slate with two or more games.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. These lineup picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. WNBA DFS Picks: Forward

Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury)  - vs. WAS - DK: $10,300, FD: $7,100

After sitting out three games to focus on her mental health, Brittney Griner returned to the floor last time out against Seattle, scoring 22 points on 10-for-15 shooting. She also added six rebounds, four assists, and one steal to the stat sheet as well.

Now, she faces a Washington Mystics team that might have Elena Delle Donne back, but will still be without Shakira Austin. Washington's got bodies they can throw at Griner, but if the Mercury work on getting the ball to their star center, it's really hard to see the Mystics doing much to limit her.

While Griner only had 12 points when these teams last met, that was more about volume, as she shot 62.5% from the floor in that one. The Mercury just need to get her the ball more.

Azura Stevens (Los Angeles Sparks)  - @ IND - DK: $8,600, FD: $5,800

Azura Stevens has played some really strong games lately, with 30-plus fantasy points in back-to-back contests. Last time out against Washington, Stevens had 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting, plus added six rebounds, one assist, and four steals.

That was the second game in a row that Stevens has shot better than 50% from the floor, and the third time in four games that she scored in double figures. The former Chicago Sky player had a little dip in production in mid-July, but it looks like everything is back on track for her.

Jessica Shepard (Minnesota Lynx)  - @ CHI - DK: $7,900, FD: $5,900

Jessica Shepard has only scored in double figures once since returning from her long absence, but she's done enough on the boards to keep her value high, grabbing double-digit rebounds in two of the last three games.

Last time out against the Liberty, Shepard played 29 minutes, her most since returning. She was 3-for-7 for seven points and pulled down 11 rebounds while also adding three assists and three steals.

Shepard's first game this season was against the Sky. In 32 minutes, she scored eight points and also added eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals, filling up the stat sheet to produce a strong fantasy line.

 

WNBA DFS Picks: Guard

Chelsea Gray (Las Vegas Aces)  - @ DAL - DK: $10,200, FD:  $7,400

The Aces scored just 61 points last game, but Chelsea Gray wasn't the issue — she shot 50% from the floor with 15 points and also added three rebounds, six assists, and one block. Strong game from the veteran guard.

Even stronger? Her last contest against the Dallas Wings. In the 104-91 victory back on July 30, Gray was 7-for-12 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the charity stripe, scoring 27 points while also adding five rebounds, eight assists, and one steal.

That was the second time in three meetings with Dallas that Gray scored at least 20 points. This has been a good matchup for her in 2023.

Erica Wheeler (Indiana Fever)  - vs. LA - DK: $7,700, FD: $6,300 

Erica Wheeler has scored in double figures in three straight games, including scoring 15 points on 5-for-14 shooting against the Dream in her last game. She also added five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Wheeler's streak of consecutive games with a steal now sits at five.

In two games against the Sparks this season, Wheeler is averaging 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game on 44.4% shooting. The Fever don't have a lot of scoring weapons at this point, so expect them to rely heavily on Wheeler against a team that's struggled to stop her all season.

Dana Evans (Chicago Sky)  - vs. MIN - DK: $4,600, FD: $4,700

Dana Evans is an intriguing value play on Tuesday night's slate. She's coming off her best game in a while, scoring 14 points against the Wings, largely because of her ability to draw fouls, as she was 9-for-9 from the line. She also added a rebound and five assists.

Her volume has been hard to predict, but she does have four games in a row with multiple assists and has scored in double figures in two of the last four games. There's some upside here, especially at under $5,000 on both platforms.
